Is this the official Grok API?

No. We are an independent service running our own open-weight model. It is not X Corp's Grok, nor is it GPT or any other vendor's model. We mirror the OpenAI API format for ease of use, but the underlying model is ours.

How do I pay for the API?

We accept crypto only: USDT (TRC20) or USDC (Base). You can top up any whole amount from $10 to $500. Credit never expires, and errors are free. We do not accept credit cards, PayPal, or bank transfers.

What is the context window size?

The model supports a 64,000 token context window for both prompt and completion. You can generate up to 16,000 tokens per request. If you do not set max_tokens, the default output is 2,048 tokens.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account gets $0.50 of trial credit valid for 7 days. No card is needed to sign up. You can use Google or email to create your account and get your API key immediately.

Are there rate limits?

Yes. You are limited to 300 requests per minute per key and 8 concurrent requests. The maximum request body size is 8 MB. Each account can have one active key, and generating a new key replaces the old one.
